Ok, you,ve got your caravan, tent or motorhome and are ready to venture out and join RVDA on your first rally,

First of all you are not restricted to RVDA, as a club member you can join any DA, Section or Region anywhere in the country and beyond.

We want you to enjoy your stay with us and for the comfort and safety of yourselves and your fellow campers, therefore we do have some rules that you need to adhere to.

Remember

We have all been first time campers at some point in time and remember what it is like, so please do not struggle with anything, if you need help speak to the stewards and they will help wherever they can.

DA Rules Summary

All DA. meets are organised in accordance with the Code of Conduct for the organisation of meets, which is printed in full in the Club handbook. Please familiarise yourself and comply with all of the requirements.

It is assumed that all members will be familiar with the Code for Campers and the Caravan Code.

The stewards are volunteers, and must not be abused in any way.  Please abide by their rules and requests.

  1. Meets open at 12 noon unless otherwise arranged (NOTE Club sites are 1pm). 

  2. Chemical Toilets must only be emptied at a suitable disposal point (ELSAN point), UNDER NO circumstances is the drinking water facility to be used to clean or charge your toilet.

  3. Members must collect wastewater in a receptacle and should not allow it to overflow and foul the ground.

  4. It is forbidden for any campers attending Club events to fly Chinese lanterns, kites or model aircraft, including Drones, over or from the campsite. The use of catapults, airguns, firearms, bows and arrows or similar equipment is also not permitted. Ball games and bubble generating toys/equipment/machines are acceptable only with permission of the Steward on an open space away from units.

  5. Noise should be kept at a minimum from radios, televisions and other sources, such as generators, and there should be no noise whatsoever between 11pm and 7am, except generator use for medical purposes.

  6. All camping units must be positioned at least six metres from any adjacent unit. This requirement is in place as a fire safety precaution. Vehicles may be parked between units, provided that a clear space of no less than three metres is maintained within the six-metre separation at all times. This rule does not apply to the use of guy ropes.

  7. Children’s pup tents can be classed as an integral part of a unit, in the same way as an awning, when they are occupied by children 17 years of age or under, and included in the household membership.

  8. All rubbish is to be taken home upon departure unless overwise stated, THS meets will provide bins or skips if longer than 5 days. Each pitch must be left clear of litter at the end of the event and a careful check should be made, before leaving the field, that no litter has been left behind.

  9. All pets are to be kept under control, and on a lead no longer than 2 metres.  Any breed of dog listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 is not permitted onsite.  All owners are responsible for cleaning up immediately after their pets. Dogs must not be taken into the marquee with the exception of registered guide dogs.

  10. All modes of transport must be restricted to 5 mph on the event field, and learner drivers are not allowed - Vehicle movement between 11pm and 7am is not permitted, unless in exceptional circumstances and with the permission of the Steward. Vehicles must be parked at right angles to any slope.

  11. The use of gas cylinders, with a capacity greater than 15kg, are not permitted at Club events for supplying touring caravans, motorhomes or tents. The use of gas cylinders to supply a camping unit via an external barbeque supply point is not permitted.

  12. It is strongly recommended that all units carry a suitable BS/EN3 approved fire extinguisher or fire blanket, and that everyone should be aware of how to use the one they have. It is strongly recommended that a bucket of water should be placed outside each camping unit, as a necessary near-to-hand firefighting tool. It is also advisable that each unit should have a first aid kit.

  13. Parents or Guardians are responsible for their children at all times.

  14. Where a bar is provided at Socials, it must be noted that own drinks are not permitted.

  15. Respect should be shown to the landowner’s property, particularly trees, fences, buildings, equipment and stock. Please observe any OUT OF BOUNDS signs.

  16. A non-member cannot stay at a THS with their own unit. To do so, they must enrol as a full member prior to pitching.

  17. Guest and non-members are not permitted to camp overnight at Meets organised under the Club’s exemptions to the 1960 and 1936 Acts. Day visitors however, are acceptable unless otherwise stated by the organising unit.

  18. Campers may only use generators with the Steward’s permission. If a Steward considers the use of a generator to be causing a nuisance, then they may ask the camper to stop using the generator or leave the site.

    In circumstances where a camper requires the operation of a generator during the night for medical purposes, this should be accommodated in such a way to prevent disturbance of other campers.

  19. Members’ camping units may not be left unoccupied overnight, except in exceptional circumstances, at any Meet or THS organised under the Club’s exemptions to the 1960 or 1936 Acts.

  20. All persons attending DA meets who are over the age of 18 must be members of the Caravan and camping club, and may be asked to provide their membership at any time.

  21. Essential repairs to vehicles may be carried out so that an unserviceable vehicle can leave the site, but maintenance and servicing are not permitted. Stewards may use discretion to allow vehicle and unit washing, provided it can be done discreetly, away from campable ground and with suitable drainage.

  22. Trading is not permitted at Meets or THS’s, unless authorised by the Steward. Touting and commercial advertising are forbidden. Campers must not advertise services or goods for sale at events, except with the permission of the Steward. Notices may not be displayed on a unit, advertising anything whatsoever. A firm’s car or van, which has the firm’s name and description on the sides, is acceptable.
